Only the RiboPrinter® system lets you... ¡@
¡@ ¡@
1.
Put the power of fully automated genetic
fingerprinting on your lab bench.
When you need to know more about the identity and relatedness of bacterial samples , the RiboPrinter® Microbial Characterization System is the tool for you .
It can provide a characteristic genetic "fingerprint" or RiboPrint® pattern-a characterization below the species level-for virtually any bacterial isolate in about eight hours.  Its built-in database can also provide identification. And the RiboPrint®  system provides this information quickly and reliably , in a compact , fully automated instrument that requires no special skills to operate .
2.
Spend less time generating data and have more
time for other priorities.
The RiboPrinter® system's extraordinary throughput and 8-hour results let you complete months of typing work in only days .
The RiboPrint® system gives you the ultimate in flexibility combined with speed and ease of use . The system's powerful built-in data analysis software automatically clusters genetically similar organisms. And the  RiboPrint® system gives you complete flexibility to choose restriction enzymes, without sacrificing speed and automation. RiboPrint® patterns are standardized, reliable and robust-a new language for microbiology that gives you capabilities never before possible .
3.
Use a universal tool for the microbiology lab.
The RiboPrinter® system provides rapid, standardized identification and characterization of the bacteria important to you. Results are unambiguous and rapid, unlike the subjective results obtained from biochemical-based tests or other manual typing methods.
The power of  the RiboPrint® system increases every time you run a sample. The system automatically compares the RiboPrint® pattern generated for each new sample to the patterns stored for all other samples in your database. With a comprehensive, dynamic picture of your microbial environment, you now have the means to make microbiology more efficient, saving time and money, in whatever area you're working:
¡E QA/QC and clinical trials
¡E Epidemiology and veterinary health investigations
¡E R&D and product development
¡E Maintaining the integrity of important cultures

The RiboPrinter® system is self-contained, reliable and easy to use. ¡@

The RiboPrint® system can automatically process up to eight bacterial isolates at one time-with results available in about eight hours from sample input. And since the system can accept new batches every two hours, you can load up to 32 samples in a normal working day. From start to finish, the process is automated, simplifying operator training and minimizing errors due to technique.

Workstation
The brains of the RiboPrint® system, it controls the RiboPrint® system characterization unit, analyzes and stores data and produces printed reports, The workstation includes a personal computer, keyboard, mouse, monitor, removable hard disk drive, laser printer, modem, and uninterruptible power supply. The proprietary software provides user-friendly prompts, process monitoring, diagnostics and complete data analysis.
Characterization unit
This automated instrument performs DNA restriction digestion, electrophoretic separation, membrane transfer and detection-and automatically records data on the accompanying workstation. Its modular design simplifies troubleshooting and maintenance. Loading and operation are easy and intuitive, requiring little training.
Membrane
Captures the DNA fragments for final processing.
Purified water
For closed-system rehydration of dry disposables and component rinsing.
Sample carrier
Holds eight samples.
MP Base and inserts
Holds the DNA probe, conjugate, and substrate (which fuel the chemical reaction to create glowing bands from the fragments of DNA).
Gel Cassete
Holds precast electrophoresis gel. Separates DNA fragments into discrete bands.
DNA prep pack
Restriction enzyme and lysis buffer to break open bacteria, release and cut DNA; marker DNA to help normalize patterns.
Sample preparation equipment
Sample preparation is made rapid, safe and simple with this specialized equipment. The hand-held mixer disperses cells in the buffer solution. The Heat Treatment Station inctivates bacterial samples and renders them harmless.

The RiboPrint® system process

1.Sample preparation
This is the only step that takes place outside the RiboPrint® characterization unit, Pure colonies picked from a plate are inactivated by heat treatment.
2.DNA preparation
DNA is extracted from bacterial cell lysate and cut into fragments by a restriction enzyme.
3.Separation and transfer
The DNA fragments are separated according to molecular size by gel electrophoresis and are then transferred to a membrane.
4.Detection
After hybridization with a labeled DNA probe, a chemiluminescent agent is introduced. The emission of light from the hybridized fragments is then captured by a digitizing  camera and stored as image data.
5.Data processing
Using proprietary algorithms, a RiboPrint® pattern for each sample is extracted from the image data. This pattern is compared to other RiboPrint® patterns stored in the system to characterize and identify the sample.
6.Printed report
A report that characterizes and identifies the bacterium and includes its RiboPrint® pattern is automatically printed for your review. Sophisticated data analysis tools allow you to further process the information and share standardized data among your network of users.

Pinpoint contamination.
The RiboPrint® system can characterize and identify bacteria below the species level so you can pinpoint the source contamination.
The RiboPrint® pattern tells the story. Here, the finished product contained Staphylococcus epidermidis.
but the Staphylococcus epidermidis found in the raw material exhibits a different RiboPrint® pattern.
The RiboPrint® pattern from a worker's hands shows an exact match to the strain in the finished product. The source of contamination is rapidly and accurately pinpointed.
Get stable, standardized result.
RiboPrint® patterns are reliable electronic data based on rRNA genes. They can be analyzed, stored and shared with other users anywhere in the world.
