The TDM400 is a turnkey system for comfortable and efficient tetrad dissection. This third generation design incorporates Nikons newest and most ergonomic laboratory microscope, the Eclipse 400.
The TDM 400 (115 volts) and the TDM400E (220-240 volts) each include a precision joystick micromanipulator, a holder for 100mm petri dishes, and stage indexing. The microscope is complete with long working distance optics for viewing through the inverted dish and growing medium.

The Precision Micromanipulator |
 |
The Precision Micromanipulator is mounted on the left side of the stage and both move in concert when the microscope is focused, thus eliminating the need for a fixed stage. The original design has been refined by the introduction of ball bearing slideways which greatly enhances the smooth feel of the joystick controlled Y and Z motion. A knurled knob is rotated for movement along the X-axis.

The Mechanical Stage |
 |
The Mechanical Stage has low coaxial control knobs which are tension adjustable. The stage is indexed with click stops every 5mm on the X and Y-axis. 100mm petri dishes of various manufacturers can be accomodated because of the unique design of the dish holder.

The Nikon Eclipse 400 Microscope |
 |
The Nikon Eclipse 400 Microscope is comfortably designed with a 25 degree binocular body. Options are available to adjust the height of the eyepieces for even the tallest operators. Focusing and micromanipulation can be done with both arms resting on the benchtop. Nikons patented one-side fine focus allows for the operation of the stage and the fine focus with one hand.
The standard optical configuration consists of two 15x widefield eyepiece, a Planachromat 2x scanning objective (working distance 7.5mm), and a Planachromat 10x (working distance 10.5mm). Also supplied is an Abbe condenser which has been modified so that it will provide proper Kohler illumination over the extended distance to the specimen. |
